Production Technical Skill Development

Induction

On my first project in induction, I learnt a lot as it was my first go at a video project. When the videos were all filmed, I went into Premiere Pro and edited the video. This is my first time using Premiere Pro and I got used to it very quickly. I put all the clips together with a few transition whilst also adding the music onto the video. This will help me massively because I will be able to fully create a product for a client as I have skills in Premiere Pro.

I also learnt from the induction project on how to use the different camera settings and then selecting the footage to use/not use in the final product. For the video, we had to switch between photo mode (for the visual storyboard) and the video mode to film the clips that we needed for the final product. At the end of the filming of the clips, we had to choose which ones we kept and which ones we discarded. We discarded a few because of focus issues and weather conditions. This helps me for the future because it will help me create the content for the Better Health Campaign.

Cinematography Examples

The second practical project I did was trying out different cinematography shots/videos. I learnt a lot from this task including learning the different shots and where and how to use them in a project. I learnt some of the different shots that can be used in a project and how to use them and when to use them at the right time. This will help me massively because I will know how to use cinematography to tell a meaning to an audience and how to make the different shots efficient for the client and the audience.

I also learnt how to use and set up a tripod on this project. I used the tripod to do a pull focus from the Headways Building logo on the wall. At first, it was blurry but as I zoomed out, it became more clear and readable for the audience. This will help me massively because it will help me steady my shots and make sure they are not shaky when recording.
