CANON: Production Diary

Canon - Production Diary

In this post, I will be documenting on how I got my photos and where I got them from.

First before setting off, I had to check the battery of my camera and check the train times to get to Newcastle. We set off early so it was not as busy and could get a few shots with no people in them and also we checked the weather as I needed some good clear shots (no rain).

After this was all checked, I went to Newcastle with Lewis and Saul to get some photographs for our project. I took a picture of the metro before we got on it as I thought it would be very beneficial to the client as it is Journeys as said before.

This picture shows that we are going on a 'journey' as we are taking the metro to a place. This picture complies with the client background as it is 'Journey's' and it is very suitable as it is a mode of public transport that anyone can take to make a journey of their own.

There was one problem and it was I couldn't get good ideas for what photographs to take so I tried to spread ideas through with Saul and Lewis and we came up with a plan. The plan included where to go for different shots and when to go also.

I took a few photos whilst walking through Newcastle which I thought may of been beneficial to the background image or main image for the whole image content.

For this photo, I did not like how white the sky was because of the cloud as I thought the text might not look good on it. It was a very good shot in my opinion but the sky ruined it as it may mess up the rest of the print advert if I use this photo.

To improve on this, I moved to a location where there were houses in front of the shot and I thought this would be perfect as the houses were a bit dark and I put white text over the top of it.

To improve it even more, I included a car which could mean that the person viewing this print advert could take a journey from a car and go somewhere with the car of their choice. I thought this was very handy to include as it fits the brief for the client.

For my last photo which was taken into consideration for my project and my least favourite out of all options was this picture (below) of an ally way.

I did not like this photo at all as I felt like it had too much going on and it is hard to look at. This is because you can see shops, people, objects, buildings and other minor things inside the picture. I felt this was the main problem because it would distract the person looking at the print advert and they would be more interested in the stuff inside the picture.

Another problem in this picture I had was the bins in the photo. This made it look very unprofessional and even with the markings on the bin; it made the picture look horrible to look at and it makes it not very pleasing to the user.

Overall, this image does not look very pleasing because there is a lot going on, a person included in the image.
